Built in France in 1979, Fernande is a 70ft aluminium ketch with a background of two round the world trips and 19 times across the Drake. Made in the renowned Biot shipyard, known for seaworthy and reliable boats, she was originally built for proper ocean racing and later set up for high latitude expeditions, being able to host 12 people in great comfort.

Her set up was based on prioritising simplicity and reliability. We have fridge, 220v outlets for charging gadgets, two toilets and hot water and central heating for cold climates. All to make sure we are keeping comfy and in a good mood.


We insist on cooking with love and good flavour. We understand it is instrumental that the crew be always on a happy stomach and looking forward to the next bite.


Fernande meets all safety requirements for any ocean sailing on the planet. Life raft, EPIRB, iridium phone, SSB radio, life jackets and harnesses, safety flares up to date and a comprehensive wilderness first aid kit.
